The 1975–1981 Americana series of stamps celebrates American concepts and themes, rather than individuals from a specific period. The series includes 20 different designs, printed in sheets, coils, and booklets, and the complete set has 35 stamps. The stamps feature colonial and patriotic imagery, and when all four stamps in a design are placed together, the titles form a frame around them. The series is notable for being the first American definitive series to not include any male humans, and the two female figures in the set are allegorical rather than representing real women.
